CHEM 217 - Organic Chemistry I Laboratory

Credit Hours: 1

Prerequisites: CHEM 152  / CHEM 162  or CHEM 164  
Corequisite: CHEM 207  

Students will employ traditional substitution, elimination and addition synthetic mechanisms while learning to use standard organic laboratory techniques in the synthesis and isolation of organic compounds. Products will be characterized using melting point (MP) , infrared spectroscopy (IR) gas chromatography (GC), thin layer chromatography (TLC), and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR).
