The development of the basic skills of writing, reading, and analysis through the reading and evaluating of essays and writing paragraphs and essays.

International students whose native language is not English may be placed in a special English Language Learners (ELL) section of ENGL 101. Depending on the individual ELL student’s performance in English, he or she may be required to take a second class, ENGL 111.
