MECH 315 - Thermodynamics w/Lab


Credit Hours: 3

This course provides an introduction to thermodynamics. Definitions of energy, heat, work and thermodynamic properties are provided and conservation laws for closed and open systems are covered. Principles are applied to power and refrigeration cycles, with applications to automotive and aircraft engines. Conservation of mass and energy are applied to mixture of gases and psychometric charts are utilized. Laboratory exercises are integrated with classroom concepts.
Laboratory: 2 hours.
Lecture: 2 hours.
Prerequisites: MATH 132, PHYS 221
