Construction Engineering Minor

Objective:

Provide engineering students, business students and students from other departments the opportunity to obtain a minor in fundamental aspects of construction engineering. The minor in Construction Engineering will provide students with practical knowledge; quantitative and scientific aptitudes and basic level of competence in construction engineering.

Competencies, Knowledge, or Skills to be Achieved:

A student who completes this minor will have the opportunity to obtain foundational perspectives of the field of construction engineering and to gain a working knowledge of construction scheduling, estimating, safety, contracts, and project management. A student who completes this minor will have the opportunity to develop a strong foundational background in construction engineering, apply basic engineering principles, stimulate creative thinking, and develop problem solving skills. Completion of coursework can assist students in meeting prerequisites for graduate study in construction engineering or related fields.

Structure of the Minor:


To earn a minor in Construction Engineering, a student must complete a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours of course work, distributed as follows:

Total Credit Hours Required:


15 or 16 at least 9 of which must be completed at The Citadel.
