Health Education Minor

Objectives:

The minor in health education is designed to allow students to acquire knowledge and understanding in a discipline universal in application. Participation in this program will allow students to attain a level of expertise in an area that may complement their major and increase avenues of professional development. This minor program is not designed to meet requirements for South Carolina public school licensure in health education.

Competencies, Knowledge, or Skills to be Achieved:

Students will have an opportunity to explore the role of health in an advanced society. Students will gain knowledge and skills which can advance their health status and wellness of their family.

Enrolling in the Minor

Students should confer with their faculty advisors concerning a desire to minor in health and file a declaration of intent with the Head of the Department of Health and Human Performance. This declaration will include a projected course of study. The department head will approve the proposed program of study and verify its completion to the Registrar.

Structure of the Minor:


1. Required Courses (12 hours)


2. Electives (6 hours)


The student should choose any two of the following courses:
