The Construction Engineering curriculum provides a broad-based education, a strong background in mathematics and basic sciences, and a rigorous sequence of civil and construction engineering courses needed to provide the breadth and depth necessary for sustainable professional success within an ever-changing technological society. An emphasis is placed on engineering and constructability knowledge and skills that develop students practical problem-solving abilities for application to real-world projects. Towards accomplishing this educational goal, the curriculum provides a two-semester senior capstone design course in which students undertake significant real-world focused construction engineering assignments and projects. The Citadel’s Bachelor’s degree program in Construction Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. Additionally, faculty promote and support the value of practical experience, and as a result, students are highly encouraged and supported in identifying opportunities and obtaining gainful employment within the construction engineering profession, or a related field, for at least one summer, preferably between the junior and senior years.

All undergraduate courses taken at The Citadel with a subject prefix of CIVL and CONE will count towards the major GPA.

Fundamentals of Engineering Examination

Each graduating student is required to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination and provide documentation to the department head.
