Mission Statement
The mission of The Citadel’s Master of Science in Project Management degree program is to equip a diverse professional student population with the applied knowledge, principled leadership, and management skills needed to effectively lead an organization’s implementation of projects and multi-disciplinary initiatives.
Admission Requirements
Applicants will be admitted to the Master of Science in Project Management (MSPM) degree program on the basis of professional and scholastic achievement, along with their aptitude for graduate study and experience. Anyone holding a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is eligible for consideration. A technical or engineering background is not a requirement for admission.
All material must be received by the CGC office on or before the following dates to assure consideration to the MSPM degree program during the applicable semester.

For degree-seeking students:
- Completion of the online graduate application along with the non-refundable application fee.
- Submission of Official transcripts from the undergraduate institution conferring the applicant’s bachelor degree and transcripts from all postgraduate institutions attended.
- Submission of resume detailing work experience or permission from Department Head.
- Submission of two letters of recommendation.
- Submission of a one-page letter of intent that provides concise, complete answers to the following questions.
- How has your experience prepared you for MSPM graduate courses?
- How will your knowledge, skills, and attitude contribute to the MSPM learning community?
- What do you hope to gain from the MSPM graduate program?
For non-degree seeking professionals wanting to take graduate- level courses to fulfill professional practice requirements:
- Completion of the online graduate application along with the non-refundable application fee
- Submission of an official transcript of the earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and transcripts from all postgraduate institutions attended.
- Submission of resume detailing previous work Experience
Student Learning Outcomes:
1. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding in project planning by developing a format and comprehensive project plan
2. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of project execution and control
3. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of project monitoring and controlling
4. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Close Project or Phase
5. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the process of developing an approach and plan for all project-based communication activities
6. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the systematice identification, analysis, planning, and implementation of actions designed to influence stakeholders
7. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the principles and values that govern the behavior of project managers in a business environment, and the professional codes of conduct
8. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the complex interactive, and dynamic working relationships between leader and followers, key leadership theories as they apply to positively influencing followers to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
9. Students will demonstrate the ability to use critical thinking methodology to develop and assess the leadership behaviors of successful leaders
10. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of project selection and initiation
11. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how the Plan Quality Management process identifies the quality of the requirements and standards of the project as well as the deliverables and documenting how the with set standards and quality requirement
12. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the processess for planning, scheduling, and allocating resources to complete a project
13. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of processess of identifying, analyzing and responding to risk that arise over the life cycle of a project to help the project remain on track and meet its goal.
