The B.A. program in mathematics provides a strong foundation in pure and applied mathematics while offering the flexibility to pursue interdisciplinary interests or a second major. The course of study leading to the B.A. with a major in mathematics includes 33 semester hours of general electives. The required courses are 3 or 4 semester hours of computer science (CSCI 205 , or CSCI 201 , & CSCI 211 ) and the following 34 semester hours of core mathematics: MATH 121 , MATH 131 , MATH 132 , MATH 206 , MATH 231 , MATH 234 , MATH 240 , MATH 470 , MATH 495 , STAT 261 .
All undergraduate courses taken at The Citadel with a subject prefix of MATH or STAT will count towards the major GPA.
In addition, the student must select 9 hours of approved Mathematics/Statistics Electives from selected courses among the mathematics and statistics courses numbered at the 300 or 400 level.

Required Hours for graduation are 123-124 credit hours plus successful completion of all RPED, ROTC, and LDRS graduation requirements. ROTC hours (credits, lectures, and labs) vary each semester by military department. ROTC Course Requirements:
ROTC course requirements apply to members of the SCCC only: - Cadets contracted or pursuing a contract should take 8 semesters of ROTC.
- Cadets not contracted or pursuing a contract should take 4 semesters of ROTC Basic and 4 semesters of ROTC fulfilment courses. Available ROTC fulfillment courses are published online annually by the department of Leadership Studies.
- ROTC courses typically carry 1 to 3 hours of credit, depending on the level. ROTC fulfillment courses typically carry 3 hours of credit. See the course descriptions for specific information.
