Prerequisite: CIVL 409, 402 and 410 or permission from Department Head Fundamentals of soil dynamics, plate tectonics and earthquakes; application of the concepts to seismic ground response, design ground motions, soil liquefaction, site response analysis, seismic slope stability, dynamic lateral earth pressure, and soil improvement.
