The English Major
The English major is designed for students seeking a broad education suitable for careers in such areas as law, business, the ministry, or the armed forces. As a pre-professional degree, English challenges students to think critically and to improve their communication skills. Course offerings cover the range of literature written in English, from the Middle Ages to our own times. The department also offers classes in creative writing, art, music, and philosophy. In preparing for careers after graduation, every student majoring in English completes at least one advanced writing class and at least one internship in professional communications.
