Degree Requirements
Please refer to the graduate catalog page for the Computer and Information Sciences, M.S. degree program for complete MS degree requirements.
Please refer to the undergraduate catalog page for the BS in Computer Science degree program for complete BS degree requirements. As described below, some BS degree requirements may be satisfied through graduate coursework.
Continuance and Graduation
Members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours of undergraduate coursework to be considered for Dean’s List and/or Gold Stars recognition. Graduate school rules for probation apply starting with provisional acceptance. The student will be a full-time graduate student in the fifth year but may elect to spread out the courses to finish as a part-time graduate student. The MS degree must be completed within six years of beginning the first graduate course. At least one third of credit hours must be taken at The Citadel and one third at The College of Charleston.
Location and Types of Courses
Courses in the Citadel/CofC MS in Computer and Information Sciences joint program are taught at the home institution of the instructor. Courses in the program are split approximately 50/50 between The Citadel and CofC. Citadel courses are taught in Thompson Hall. CofC courses are taught at Harbor Walk East building, 360 Concord Street, Charleston, SC 29401. Cadets accepted into the combined program will be placed on special orders to attend evening classes at CofC when their course is taught by a faculty member from that institution. In other situations, some graduate courses are offered online or in a hybrid format. In these cases, cadets accepted into the combined program will be allowed to take these course formats as well.
