CHEM 220 - Introduction to Chemical Research

Credit Hours: 3

Prerequisites: FSWI 101  
A study of different technical communication methods and styles used to communicate scientific information.  Students will examine and compare proposals, industry reports, and peer-reviewed journal articles. “Good” writing is only part of effective communication. Therefore, students will also learn to collect, store, and use literature resources for the planning of research and reports. Students will generate bibliographies and practice and critique both written and oral presentations.

Requirements/Required: Required of all chemistry majors, and serves as the “Professional Communications” course for chemistry majors.  Recommended as the “Professional Communications” course for science majors.  Elective for others.
