Objectives:

Machine learning is emerging as today’s fastest-growing job as the role of automation and AI expands in every industry and function. AI & ML techniques are now used in many application areas including natural language processing, speech, vision, robotics, and computational biology. The Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning minor gives students a grounding in the fundamental concepts underlying modern AI & ML approaches and systems.  It covers both the mathematical background as well as programming.

Competencies, Knowledge, or Skills to be Achieved:

Upon completing the minor in AL & ML, students will be able to:

  1. Develop AL & ML approaches for complex real-world problems.
  2. Use a broad range of AL & ML tools, techniques, and algorithms.
  3. Apply AL & ML tools in an ethical and socially responsible manner, with an awareness of biases that can result from their indiscriminate use.
  4. Communicate results of complex analyses using appropriate visualization techniques.
  5. Be well versed with the Python programming language and all the key packages for AI and ML such as NumPy, pandas, Scikit-Learn, SciPy, MatplotLib, Tensorflow, Keras, spaCy, NLTK, Gensim, etc.

Structure of the Minor:

Total Credit Hours Required:
