The mission of the Department of Cyber and Computer Sciences is to develop principled leaders knowledgeable in Cyber and Computer Sciences to meet the needs of the 21st century through education, research, experiential learning and service activities.
To achieve this goal, the department offers a B.S. degree in Computer Science and a B.S. degree in Cyber Operations, along with four minors: cybersecurity, cyber interdisciplinary studies, data science, and computer programming. At the graduate level, jointly with the College of Charleston, the department offers the M.S. degree in Computer and Information Sciences and graduate certificate programs in Cybersecurity and Software Engineering. The department supports the disciplines of cyber and computer sciences and the growth and development of educational opportunities in the Lowcountry through our academic programs, research, and public service. Since 2016, The Citadel has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
