CSCI 457 - Natural Language Processing


Credit Hours: 3

Prerequisites: CSCI 205  / MATH 208  
Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a rapidly developing field with broad applicability with applications such as spam detection, parts of speech tagging, sarcasm detection, text summarization and named entity recognition. The ability to harness, employ and analyze linguistic and textual data effectively is a highly desirable skill for academic work, in government, and throughout the private sector. This course is intended as a theoretical and methodological introduction to the most widely used and effective current techniques, strategies and toolkits for NLP, with a primary focus on those available in the python programming language.
